Hi,
Your bjarne stroustrup page has escaped!
It's doing the rounds on email, and is soon to pass into folklore. Can
you confirm or deny its truth for us? I'm assuming it's false but I can't
go round telling people so, based only on my own cynicism.
Cheers,
xxxx.

I can neither confirm nor deny the validity of the claims.
We can only hope that we all learn something from it.

Can you authenticate this interview? Has Bjarne or IEEE confirmed or denied
having the interview? Anything in the news about it?
Thanks,
xxxx

I can deny it. Here's a message from Bjarne. I'm sure he would appreciate
it if you took that interview off your web page.

That was pretty funny! You say you have a denial and then
you send nothing but a copy of my message!
A virtual denial? Information hiding?
You crack me up!

As I said before, I'm sure Bjarne would appreciate it if you stopped
spreading this story around.

Nice denial. It has all the hallmarks of a wonderful parody.
The arrogant tone, the obfuscated syntactic structure - what
is that punctuation all about? No digital signature either!
I like the way this story is developing.

Not the source, of course. We all have enjoyed it - and know all this by
heart, and through our (DOS, Mac, Win, UNIX...) experience. The
disagreement comes in one point only - whether the interview is real or
not (your disclaimer...).
I'm pretty sure it is ...

Oops, I'm referring to the C++ interview with the
author, B.S. whose name, unfortunately, I am unable to
spell. The article you published was titled
"I Did It All For You"

It's a rather funny interview - I didn't take it seriously though -
I just wanted to know if you had really said those things - which
parts do you think are malicious ?

---> putting detailed and falacious arguments against C++ into my mouth
and ascribing mercenary motives to the invention. My view is
undoubtedly biased by having recieved more than fifty pieces of
mail from people who "tended to think that the interview was genuine"

Never mind the Stroustrup interview. Is the discussion on this page
true or not? I have hard to believe it is.

Debunking Cybermyths: The Stroustrup Interview
It has come to our attention that a fictitious Computer interview with
Bjarne Stroustrup is making the rounds. Readers of Computer and anyone
familiar with Stroustrup's work would immediately recognize the
interview for the hoax that it is. We regret that Computer's name was
linked to this fiction in an attempt to give it credibility. On the
bright side, this incident has reminded us to reconnect with Bjarne
Stroustrup, and we will feature a legitimate interview treating his most
recent work in the very near future.
