My first web presence was a CompuServe account. It allowed me to upload pages and images and have a bit of fun and also gave me what I thought would be an e-mail for life. It worked well for a while, even in Paris. I moved to the USA and things went mad. CompuServe Pacific were physically incapable of billing me in the US - the 5 digit Zip was a major stumbling block.
So I wanted to change over to CompuServe USA, even though I thought the whole situation was laughable. Oh no, not until you pay your Australian bill, Mr Ellis. But they couldn't send me one, never did. So I found God, or Simplenet in any case.
