Karl and Viktor paid me a visit in the first
week of June, 1997. We intended to make a film. This is very
explained in the page of squirrel.
Good Karl bought apparatus-photo and we packed around making
Manhattan of the things of insane-ass and recording them like
bitstreams, thinking stupidly that we would throw it right unit
and let us burn it on CD.
Not also quickly! It seemed that the software was not until
him thus that took six months in the place - more of the software
of writing of time.
So much here it is: "points! - the film" (also known under the name of "film which shouts out of the points!").
Devoted to the affectionate memory of John Mackin, who was never afraid to shout out of the "points!".
The visual length was drawn with Hitachi MPEG-Camwood, a digital cam held in the hand which records format MPEG-1 of SIF directly to a disk unit of 260Mb PCMCIA. This holds approximately 20 minutes. We emptied the data of this with a laptop at two points in the growth (in the past on the vat with the statue) thus we finished upwards with approximately an hour of substance. This was burned on 2 CD-ROMS for suitability. The additional visual length was drawn with another MPEG-Camwood a certain hour in September and additional distillers were drawn with two apparatus-photo from Kodak DCS (of the 40 and the 50). Hitachi takes distillers, therefore, but the Kodaks are higher for this task. The projectiles of rocket of objective of statue are courtesy of Eric Van Hensbergen and were taken the infernal boat.
The
video was treated with the coldly written continuation of MPEG of
Lucent Inferno, and
the frames about 19,000 became chosen, being saved bitbucket of
cutting-part. The selected clips were converted into files of AVI
(believed codec of Indeo) and the film was built in the first of
adobe. Expenses
publish 96 was used to convert the jets of acoustics of layer
1 into files of WAV and for standardization. The distillers were
treated with the Photoshop adobe which was also used for the
titles. The end product was encodé with the coder of
LSX-MPEG.
The music ("infernal music of vague beachcomber") was composed and was carried out on a Roland PMA-5 on a flight of the Sydney worms. The remainder of acoustics was extracted starting from the length from MPEG except the type of mountain from splash.
The computers were of digital ethnique membership of alpha, of Sparc sun and of INTEL x86. Their names are sharp, risk, woollooomooloo, dante, divine, cfysparc, ultra1, ultra2, lapaws, pcnt and pcwork44. Hope I did not omit no matter whom.
[format: Constrained MPEG-1, V SIF 352x240 1600 KBS, A L2S 120 KBS, 3:41]
"points!" thrived like greeting and exclamation at Basser in the semi 80s. Although its origin is in the culture of drug its expression was not normally drug associated. That it is a simple courtesy "points!" to the going beyond of a associate in the corridor or a lowing no-hold-No-holds-barred through a tight bar they gave a direction of unit - when the things were well "had marked us". It was also a response of favourite to an awkward responder, with something to shout with a disconcerted witness, and a simple ponderance - "points?". Where you "will mark!" today.
