ChunderBlog

Sep 08 2001 - Oct 23 2001    [NEXT] [Creepy Eye]

This ain't really a Blog by any stretch. I was thunking that maybe Chunder really is too hard to navigate andboingboing.net that I really have neglected the site lately. If you want a real blog then visit boingboing - all of which I have read in the last week. Lotsa nice links to neat or goofy stuff, tho some of the older ones are dead - as are many of the older links on Chunder - something I will rectify eventually now that I am in CouchDog ChunderBlog mode. Hey what does the U in URL stand for anyway, or maybe Universal has a new meaning.

This site is not affiliated with the Sydney 2000 Olympics. What a fizzer. Well there was the Olympics.Barf!

acme.com has some fun stuff.  Got me a license plate for the P76.

Mark V. Shaney is still about. Here is a sermon based on Biblical verses about fish.

Jurassic puke. Could this be dinosaur chunder?

Isaac Stern was pretty cool.

"You cannot force someone to think as you do or to feel as you do," he said of his teaching in 1995. "But you can teach them to think a little better, to think a little more. To listen a little more critically. To listen to what they're really doing, not what they think they're doing. To have more respect for the necessary lengthy internal and external collusion between the performer and the composer."

He also said "Dammit, I want to play!" and more ... [cool obit]

Wrong point! Is it just me or is software getting tougher for my wrong point to get around and finish normally? Let's check Appendix E ... "However, you can impose effect settings by using the editing functionality ..."

Ahhh! Now I know what point I did wrong!

Shaney and Stephen King ...

Tian was pulled off his feet. He landed on a rock that dug savagely into the cleft of his lungs and pursued by huge mutie wasps with stingers the size of nails. They had found it; Andy wasn't bothered by wasps no matter how big they were and burned it with kerosene, but there might be others. Then there were the holes. You couldn't burn holes, could you? No. And Son of a Bitch; the beast unlucky enough to draw such duty would likely be lying there on the ground, teeth bared, eyes rolling, braying its agony at the straps.

Strong Crypto vs Strong Smell

Yes I work in Computer Security and yes I'm an advocate of strong crypto. It's refreshing to see the press debunking the hysterical uninformed reporting of how crypto is a killer. From the Guardian:

"According to the FBI, the conspirators had not used encryption or concealment methods. Once found, the emails could be openly read." ...

"Despite the forthright position taken by the FBI, some US newspapers have continued to report technological myths in circulation before the attack."

Rest assured I will continue to use strong crypto on a daily basis: for e-commerce, the securing of data communication on the open sewer that is our beloved internet, and of course for personal private correspondence. Just a hint if you are reading my e-mails ... discard the PGP mime part - the real message (usually about a cool restaurant or a good wine) is steganographed in the signature.
